There was a great column on the magazine “Sailing World” called “Ask Dr. Crash”, with big crashes, wipeouts and mishaps that Dr. Crash caught on camera!
The “crash photos” are spectacular images that capture new likes and viewers (even outside of the small club of class members).
These pics promote a Class because they are associated with strong winds, movement, speed and unexpected events.
The “near sinking” of American Magic in the 2021 America’s Cup attracted more audience than the defender’s victory.
Are these photos (or videos) bad publicity for a Class?
For those who understand something about communication and media, absolutely not.
But someone ordered: “I will choose the daily photo, don’t change that.” … no comment, just Ask Dr. Crash!
Let’s look at these beautiful photos of the Finn Class and the Snipe Class (credits: Robert Deaves – Finns – and Matias Capizzano – Snipes)
